Woven Continuum, is a woven parametric surface that explores how simple strips can create a sense of infinite curvature when carefully designed and assembled. I developed the form through parametric modeling, testing how surfaces behave under tension and continuity. The result reminded me of a flowing space continuum, where geometry feels both ordered and organic.

To bring this idea into physical form, I worked with colored cardstock as my primary media. I used a Cricut Explore 3 cutting machine to precisely cut the interlaced strips, a tool more commonly associated with craft projects than with complex geometries. By pushing this accessible tool beyond its usual limits, I was able to materialize an intricate structure from everyday material.

The process required careful weaving and assembly, transforming two-dimensional cutouts into a three-dimensional surface. The alternating colors emphasize the checkerboard rhythm of the weave while highlighting the curves created by the strips in tension.

For me, this piece is both a study in mathematical form and an experiment in accessibility. It demonstrates how complex ideas can emerge from modest tools and materials, opening possibilities for rethinking how we design and build.
